The Department of Continuing Education serves to prepare mid-career professionals to become skilled talent for the digital economy. The department offers both fundamental and specialized modules across a wide range of areas such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and software engineering. Department faculty bring wide-ranging expertise from multidisciplinary backgrounds that include years in the game industry, cybersecurity, academia, and software engineering fields.

Note: Courses taken within the Department of Continuing Education at DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore do not fall within the scope of ACCSC accreditation.

Continuing Education Faculty

Howard Sin


Howard Sin graduated from DigiPen (Singapore) with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation in 2013.

After graduating, Howard joined the local games industry as a software engineer at LambdaMu Games where he worked on Pixel People and Dice Soccer League, now Dice Soccer City, before rising to the position of senior engineer. He left in 2015 to form his own game company, 4EVA Studios, where he developed I Wanna be a Hero and worked on various commercial projects. While running his own studio, he made forays into the education sector as a programming lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Interactive & Digital Media. While there, he taught programming, computer graphics, game development techniques, and artificial intelligence. He also served as a technical lead at Jules Ventures, an education technology company championing computational thinking, before returning to his alma mater in 2018.

Howard is passionate about teaching and his areas of interest lie in programming languages, computer graphics, and game development. He currently oversees the planning and curriculum of the Continuing Education courses at DigiPen (Singapore).

Dr. Christopher Teoh

Assistant Professor

Dr. Christopher Teoh received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Before joining DigiPen (Singapore), Christopher held various roles in both academia and the industry, including lecturing in colleges in Malaysia. Christopher moved to Singapore in 2019 to pursue a career in data science and information technology.

Christopher’s research interests include metaheuristic algorithms, operations research, machine learning algorithms, and natural language processing. He currently teaches the python programming language, as well as topics related to data algorithms and machine learning. As an instructor, Christopher hopes to inspire his students to reach higher to achieve their full potentials.

Outside the classroom, Christopher is an editorial board member of the Journal of Autonomous Intelligence. To date, he has published nine academic papers related to operations research.

Dr. Sayed Ameenuddin Irfan

Assistant Professor

Dr. Sayed Ameenuddin Irfan has a Ph.D. in Science (Applied Mathematics) from Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Malaysia. Upon graduation, he worked at his alma mater as a post-doctoral researcher from 2018 to 2021 before moving to DigiPen (Singapore).

Sayed has done extensive research on the numerical solution for partial differential equations arising from chemical engineering applications and the neural network solutions of partial differential equations. This also includes machine learning applications in the oil, gas, chemical, and sustainable environment industries. He has also published multiple papers on the aforementioned topics in reputed international journals such as the Journal of Controlled Release, IEEE Access, and the Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering.

Sayed teaches machine learning, deep learning, and applied mathematics. What he enjoys most about being an educator is interacting with, helping, and learning from his students.

Angeline Tan Siok Hoon


After graduating out of Charles Sturt University, Australia in 2008 with a BSc in Computer Science in Games Technology (Honours), Angeline Tan Siok Hoon’s first project was working on Diva Dancers, part of the Diva Girls Nintendo DS game series for Europe.

In 2011, she completed her WSQ Diploma in Digital Visual Effects & Animation and was hired by One Animation as its Pipeline Technical Director, working on the International Emmy-Nominated Oddbods and Insectibles.

While furthering her studies in Germany’s Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences (Faculty of Technology and Bionics), she was offered the opportunity to help improve the teaching of programming modules by the faculty’s professors while earning her second BSc in Electronics Engineering. She joined the faculty at DigiPen (Singapore) in 2020.

Calvin Chia


Calvin Chia graduated with a postgraduate diploma in systems analysis from the National University of Singapore Institute of Systems Science (NUS ISS) in 2003.

Before joining DigiPen (Singapore), Calvin worked at Channel News Asia where he helped to implement interactive web graphics that the news team used to bring their stories to life. Calvin was the software developer on these projects.

Calvin currently teaches modules related to software engineering. He enjoys sharing his work experiences with his students as he shows them how their technical knowledge can be applied in real-life situations.

Priyanka Hriday Bhoyar


Priyanka Bhoyar received her Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering with distinction and Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering from Nagpur University, India. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in Data Science and Engineering from Great Lakes Institute of Management, Bangalore. Before joining DigiPen (Singapore), she worked in the IT industry as a data scientist in sectors such as healthcare and e-commerce. Prior to that, she also worked as an assistant professor in India.

Priyanka’s research interests lie in networking, image processing, and machine learning. She has published research papers in top international journals and conferences. She also received a best faculty award during her academic experience.

Priyanka is passionate about teaching. At DigiPen (Singapore), she teaches Python, data structure, databases, and machine learning.

Wang Zhiyuan


Wang Zhiyuan obtained a Master of Science in Information Systems from Nanyang Technological University in 2020 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from National University Singapore. His research area is in the study and application of machine and deep learning algorithms, along with multi-objective optimization (MOO) and multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods that can solve engineering problems and expedite data-driven research. Zhiyuan has published multiple papers on these subjects.

Zhiyuan joined DigiPen (Singapore) in 2021 and teaches modules in python programming, data structures and algorithms, databases, data analytics and visualization, and machine learning. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge with his students and hopes to continually inspire them.

Before entering academia, Zhiyuan worked as a test development engineer at Micron Technology where he helped to develop testing programs using the C/C++ and python programming languages. He has also worked on optimization and big data analysis.

Outside the classroom, Zhiyuan enjoys swimming and working out at the gym.

Alvin Yeo

Development Engineer

Alvin Yeo graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying from University Tunku Abdul Rahman in 2013 and a Specialist Diploma in Cybersecurity Software Development from DigiPen (Singapore) in 2020.

Prior to joining DigiPen (Singapore), Alvin worked at Attila Cybertech Pte. Ltd. as a cybersecurity consultant. He is passionate about cybersecurity domains, especially in the areas of pentesting, network securities, and open-source intelligence. To keep his skills up to date, Alvin often reads up about these topics in his free time and participates in capture-the-flag computer security competitions whenever he can.

Alvin currently helps to develop content and exercises for the Continuing Education courses at DigiPen (Singapore).
